This position is in Facility Management Service (FMS), Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center & Clinics (SORCC) VA Medical Center, White City, Oregon. The position supervises employees in the Electrical, Electronics, Maintenance Mechanic Lead shop and backup support for the Biomedical Equipment Support Specialist work, as required.

Duties

This is a non-bargaining unit position. The supervisor is to direct the team effort in providing Electrical and Electronics support to the medical center, within established time frames, while guaranteeing that the quality of work provided meets Facility Management Service (FMS) standards and code requirements. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Assist in the preparation of the FMS budget needs for the day-to-day work activities of the Electrical/Electronic shop and any projects that require its support. Incumbent reviews Preventive Maintenance requirements on new Electrical/Electronic shop equipment before it is entered into the PM system. Incumbent reviews existing Equipment Inventory files for Electrical/Electronic shop equipment, to eliminate erroneous data, establish appropriate time and frequency schedules, and ensures that each PM is realistic and that it can be accomplished as established. Incumbent conducts 30-day reviews of work orders and PM's for the Electrical/Electronic shop, ensuring that delays are due to legitimate causes, i.e., shipment of materials, funding limitations, scheduling considerations, etc., and not just a matter of poor planning or a lack of proper coordinating. Incumbent coordinates with purchasing agent for urgent/emergency purchases. Incumbent inspects the work of the shop journeyman and ensures that applicable building codes are adhered to. Incumbent will coordinate all Electrical/Electronic HVAC, activities within the scope of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and projects, ensuring that priorities and time frames are adhered to. Incumbent provides technical assistance to project managers, designers, and Electrical/Electronic shop personnel in preparing specification that involve Electrical/Electronic and miscellaneous mechanical support. Incumbent serves as the Contracting Officers Representative (COR) for any contract issued to support the station or projects assigned to the Electrical/Electronic shops. Schedules and reviews leave for subordinates, review personnel actions and performance appraisals initiated by them, and act on personnel problems and maintains administrative records. Ensures time and attendance records are maintained daily and necessary documentation is attached at the time of submittal. Physical Requirements: Work progress, inspections, and supervision require regular and recurring physical exertion involving walking, standing, bending, climbing, etc. The incumbent must be able to climb and work from ladders. Management and administrative work are performed in a sedentary office environment. Must have good vision, with glasses or contacts acceptable. Working Conditions: must be capable of supervising and performing work that is performed outside in inclement weather or in areas that are very hot, cold or unventilated; such as catwalks, crawlspaces and mechanic al rooms. May be exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, electrical shock, and other hazards normally encountered in facility maintenance, repairs and operation. Safety procedures must be followed, and appropriate protective safety gear and personal protective equipment must be worn, as required for the specific work area or task. Incumbent shall ensure all employees wear personal protective equipment as required by the particular situation. Driver's License: The incumbent must have a current, valid driver's license.
