About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for the Additional Healthcare Occupations Temporarily Covered by DoD Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the position: Position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Perform a range of diagnostic examinations and treatments according to clinic processes and procedures. Prepare patients and rooms for patient care activities, examinations and diagnostic tests Assists providers with procedures. Clean wounds and applies bandages after suturing and assists in removal of sutures, staples and dressings. Obtain and record accurate vital signs and other required measurements. Verify patient's eligibility for treatment. Schedule follow-up appointments with the appropriate clinic. Complete lab work and other point of care testing within scope of practice. Obtain lab samples, perform point of care testing, and deliver specimens directly to the lab. Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups in accordance with established protocols. Recognize and respond to emergent situations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires a Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• All employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, and are subject to missing/required immunizations.
• This position will have specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a regular and reoccurring basis.
• This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program.
• A pre-employment physical is required.
• A probationary period of 1 year may be required.
• This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
• This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.

Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes documented experience which demonstrates experience: performing non-professional nursing/medical assistance work assisting Health Care Providers with medical exams; administering immunizations and medications ordered by the health care providers; and obtaining specimens (blood, mucus, urine, etc.) for laboratory testing. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some education leading to a bachelor's degree but less than required in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.).
