This position is in the Mental Health Service of the Greater Los Angeles area Department of Veterans' Affairs. Serves as the Program Specialist for the Subspecialty Division - Workplace Violence Prevention program (WVPP). The primary responsibility of this position is administratively responsible for the development and implementation of the WVPP including all programmatic elements of workplace violence prevention, program development, education, and training in this area.
Duties
Collects and analyzes data on the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the program.
Participates in short and long-term GLA and VISN wide Workplace Violence Prevention Program (WVPP) planning.
Monitors and alerts staff when review cycles are approaching.
Prepares reports and completes administrative projects requested.
Obtains and consolidates information for presentation to WVPP Section lead, GLA leaders and staff for use in the planning and development.
Provides meeting support.
Disseminates information about local and national policies, to keep staff updated.
Develops and coordinates internal review systems for tracking and planning activities
Manages mail Serves timekeeper with associated duties, as appropriate.
Analyzes WVPP data, identifies trends and issues of concern.
Recommends action or adjustments necessary to achieve required objectives
Organizing and conduct trainings for relevant parties (e.g., staff, and mental health leaders), such as updated policies procedures.
Establishes process controls to ensure recommendations and actions are completed as approved.
Drafts memos and letters as needed.
Work Schedule: Monday Thru Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/18/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in health care activities and organizational and analytical abilities due to the specialized nature of the work.
Ability to interact effectively both through written and oral communications with a wide variety of health, and other professionals, and to organize conferences and task forces to obtain their input.
Expert knowledge of administrative functions and responsibilities in relation to correspondence, report format, data compilation, financial management, and policies/guidelines.
Mastery of a wide range of qualitative and or quantitative methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness.
Knowledge of an extensive body of management analysis technical rules, guidelines, regulations, and precedents in order to devise ways to improve directives and ensure compliance with regulatory or enforcement programs. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond Masters Degree.
