The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the environmental program manager to perform management, execution, and operations of the radiation program.
Duties
Duty 1: Responsible for managing radioactive material recycling in-house/disposal, including the required contracts, to comply with all applicable Federal, state and local environmental laws and policies.
Duty 2: Evaluates and secures compliance with environmental and radiation safety laws through audits, investigations and enforcement of corrective action activities.
DUTY 3: Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with other elements and flights in Civil Engineering and other organizations on base involved in areas related to base environmental activities.
DUTY 4: Communicates and coordinates environmental issues with higher headquarters, regulatory agencies, other installation units, community officials, etc. Directs the development of briefing packages and a variety of related reports.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
I have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a Bachelor's or higher degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. NOTE: YOU MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS WHEN APPLYING FOR THESE POSITIONS.

I have a combination of education and experience with education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. NOTE: YOU MUST PROVIDE A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS WHEN APPLYING FOR THESE POSITIONS.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-2, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience is described as defining, directing, or leading highly challenging projects/programs; identifying and resolving highly complex problems; and developing and implementing solutions to diverse, highly complex problems across multiple areas and disciplines.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of health and radiation safety principles, laws, regulations and precedent decisions which provide the capability to recommend substantive program changes or alternative courses of managerial action requiring the expansion or modification of existing radiation safety health management techniques critical to the resolution of radiation safety management problems.
2. Knowledge and understanding of professional level concepts, principles, theories, and current practices that enable incumbent to serve as a technical authority on the most complex environmental projects and programs within the radiation safety and health physics area of expertise.
3. Knowledge and skill in project management to include contractor performance, quality assurance, quality control, costs, scope, and schedules of projects/programs.
4. Knowledge and skills necessary to meet the requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission definition of a Radiation Safety Officer for a Broadscope License.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
