This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Perform network or workstation scans weekly or more often, as required and compile vulnerability reports to facilitate corrections.
Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refer others, such as formal grievances and appeals, to the supervisor or an appropriate management official.
Conduct risk/vulnerability assessments of planned or installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities and threats by evaluating how they impact system capabilities in order to identify protection needs.
Implement policy and planning requirements by creating, publishing and executing an Information Security Program in accordance with applicable regulations.
Lead Information Assurance Team (IAST) ensuring work is carried out by coordination of duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Receive favorable initiation of a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate baseline certification for Information Assurance Management and Technical level II (IAM II/IAT II) within six months.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies:
1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
In addition to the competencies, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service which includes: 1) Implementing security countermeasures to mitigate IT security risks; 2) Ensuring user privileges to accredited systems are accurate and up to date; AND 3) Assisting in security compliance for all aspects of network, hardware and software.
