The primary purpose of this position, Supply Technician, GS-2005-07, is to provide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.
Duties
Conduct extensive searches for information pertaining to complex and/or unusual supply transactions and patterns.
Provide supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for equipment and/or parts requiring special handling.
Determine stock levels needed for nonrecurring, specialized items based on usage, inventory, project demands, seasonal demands, changing customer needs, and projected depletion.
Prepare recurring and special reports.
Perform administrative office support functions, and maintain cooperative working relatlocships with tenm members, related functions, nnd operating officials.

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. GS-07
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes thorough knowledge of supply regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions and an intensive knowledge of supply requirements to ensure supply support for production, overhaul, repair, or other operations for urgent, critical shortage; Ability to provide support pertaining to supplies, equipment, and parts, such as laboratory or test equipment, prototypes of technical equipment requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage; Ability to conduct extensive and exhaustive searches for information and to reconstruct records for complex supply transactions. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions.
Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods.
Knowledge of data entry and processing of supply transactions in an automated supply system.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems.
Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements.
Ability to receive, screen, review, and verify supply documents and resolve discrepancies.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is required to stand, walk, and climb in-industrial facilities where it is necessary frequently to bend, crouch, stoop, reach and lift moderately heavy items 15-44lbs. May also be required to perform these functions in obstructed areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee works In an office setting part of the time, but is also required to regularly visit warehouse areas, which involve moderate risks, discomfort, and require safety precautions. Visits to industrial areas take place in all weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to strong odors, fumes from paint, fuels or chemicals used in work processes. Regular use of safety equipment Is an occupational requirement.
