Duties
Performs causative research to resolve critical inventory discrepancies.
Performs extensive research on inventory discrepancies and imbalances identified through warehouse denials, customer complaints/inquiries, physical inventory counts, location surveys, special inspections. etc.
Determines the causes of discrepancies and makes or coordinates appropriate adjustments to correct inventory records and documents.
Processes Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs). through research and resolution.
Performs Shelf-Life updates and Care of Supplies in Storage (COSIS) on stock as required.
Participates in evaluating and analyzing trends for inventory discrepancies.
Assists specialists in the analysis of automated systems and the implementation of new applications.
May operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and stock selectors to move material.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supply Technician, your qualifications must include
Specialized Experience: To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience are identified in the Major Duties section of this vacancy announcement and may also include:
Conducting physical inventories and location surveys
Investigating stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances or SDRs
Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Physical Demands: Work requires period of standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting. Operates government vehicles to transport supplies. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 pounds. This level of physical demand occurs when incumbent stocks, retrieves, and distributes items for the organization.
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed in an office setting. The work environment also involves moderate risks or discomforts, which require safety precautions, such as working in warehouses and around moving warehouse equipment.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
