The Primary Purpose of the Position is as a Supply Technician for Environmental Management Service (EMS), Textile Care, which provides full textile care services for several healthcare systems within VISN 17.
Duties
The CTVHCS is recruiting for a highly qualified Supply Technician for the Textile Care Section, Environmental Management Service (EMS) located in Waco, Texas.
Major Duties as Assigned, but not limited to:
Coordinating, controlling and documenting the receipt and distribution of general use linens for health care systems, and uniforms, patient clothing, and specialty linen items.
Responsible for monitoring and documenting all aspects of the Procurement and Inventory Management Programs including but limited to micro-purchasing, and large order preparations.
Monitor special requests for changes of daily linen quotas and ensure that such changes and requirements have been appropriately documented and coordinated with the linen distribution department.
Must be able to recognize and objectively evaluate linen needs and requirements as they relate to the daily patient census, diagnostic procedure, surgical schedules, patient categories, Nursing Service staffing, and training programs.
Responsible for implementing a complete linen management system by analyzing computer-generated data and making independent decisions and/or recommendations to the Textile Care Manager relating to linen procurement, stock levels, quotas, inventory data and budgeting information.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/20/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Ensures timely and proper distribution of supplies and materials in assigned areas to include sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment. Monitors expiration dates, rotating stock to limit out-dates and removing items from use required by out-dates. Coordinates work activities to resolve operating issues pertaining to clinical and administrative supply management requirements. Utilizes the automated point of use inventory system (Omnicell or similar), as well as the parent inventory system to monitor issues and receipts in support of stock replenishment processes. Performs daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar code equipment and following the predetermined schedule. Knowledge of aseptic principles as published in infection control guidelines, local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Joint Commission standards as scheduled.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent does substantial walking and standing as well as some lifting. It may be necessary for incumbent to lift items weighing 40 to 50 pounds with assistance. Incumbent may need to perform duties that require bending, stooping or climbing on ladders.
