You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND CYBER SECURITY DEPARTMENT (CODE 109) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will be responsible for the analysis, testing, operations, and development of new technologies integration and maintenance of systems security to ensure a safe and secure work environment throughout the command. You will participate in the installation, fabrication, testing and evaluation/research and development, sustainment, and troubleshooting new or modified security systems or analyzing the compatibility of interlocking components and systems. You will perform various developmental-level electronics technician duties involving installation maintenance, repair, and proving work status for all applicable areas of CCTV and other video monitoring equipment. You will assist with testing new configurations and hardware on multi-platform environments and integration with existing configurations and constraints in the production environment. You will participate in the practices of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, fundamental electronics technician methods, and proper conduit bending and wiring techniques for electrical or electronic installations. You will assist with developing and designing test and repairing equipment. You will equipment performance under varying environmental conditions. You will work closely with senior technicians and participates in applying fundamental electronics technician methods, principles, and practices of electrical and electronic test equipment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 461 Systems Security Analyst level Basic within 12 months of appointment.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position requires that the selectee have visual acuity and accurate color discrimination. I am able to distinguish between colors and shades of colors.
  • You are willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 60 pounds in weight.

Qualifications

For GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying electronic principles and practices to analyze and evaluate the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, design, or repair of security systems-related equipment for increased effectiveness of safe work practice. FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying electronic principles and practices to assist in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, design, or repair of security systems-related equipment for ensuring a safe work environment.
