You will serve as a Materials Handler of NAVSUP FLEET LOGISTICS CENTER NORFOLK.
Duties
You will perform the full range of material handling and warehousing functions.
You will read and interpret shipping documents and other documentation used to move, store, and track materials.
You will operate motor vehicles, forklifts, and other Material Handling Equipment.
You will work with automated supply and/or inventory systems.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: the ability to perform the full range of tasks including the ability to perform the work of a Materials Handler as demonstrated by experience, working under limited supervision receiving, issuing, handling, preserving, and preparing materials for shipment; segregating, storing, inventorying, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment, and materials, in accordance with prescribed regulations; performing inspections of incoming shipments to check for damage; documenting discrepancies, and damage; reading and preparing shipping and tracking documents; using computer systems and scanning devices to track material; verifying accurate and complete documentation in compliance with established policies; lay out storage space and establish item and material locations providing for maximum space utilization; performing the rotation, or relocation of stored items, as directed; determining proper handling and storage procedures; operating motor vehicles, forklifts and material handling equipment. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
