You will serve as a TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (WATER SURVIVAL) in the TECHNICAL TRAINING DEPARTMENT of RECRUIT TRAINING COMMAND.
Duties
You will determine the manner in which to best convey the course material to the students.
You will coordinate aquatic training material development activities to ensure other swimming instructors' courses will meet program requirements.
You will give oral instructions to execute processes or procedures.
You will evaluate swimming program material and exercises to determining if programs relate to organizational goals.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizes instructional and developmental teaching methods, rules, and procedures; 2) Conducts swim instructional training activities and formal classes in water survival techniques and underwater breathing; and 3) Instructing a diverse group of personnel.

Applicant must posses (or be able to qualify for) American Red Cross certifications for:
CPR for the Professional Rescuer
Lifeguarding
Standard First Aid
Water Safety Instructor and/or military equivalent
O2 Administration
Blood-borne pathogens
Due to the potentially high level of stress inherent with training recruits in a high risk environment, all Water Survival instructors must undergo a high risk screening interview.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of in-water instruction and swimming. Some walking, bending, and carrying of light items. High-risk training environment can be stressful and necessitates good mental and physical stamina. Performing lifeguard saves and assists is fairly common.
Work Environment:
Highly structured environment with specific safety regulations and instructor-to-student ratios. Regular exposure to moderate risks and discomforts (e.g. prolonged periods of being in the pool, irritant chemicals).
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completed one full year of graduate level education in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Successful completed a bachelor's degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled with superior academic achievement.
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience
