Duties

Plans, directs and organizes the housing assignment, billeting, and logistical operations of a GTC to include such functions as inventory and storage management, quality assurance, maintenance, procurement and property utilization and disposal. Assembles and reviews budget estimates for the DOL. Determines funding requirements and directs the preparation of budget justifications. Reviews, analyzes and interprets supply directives and procedural instructions and plans operating procedures to render the best possible support to the training centers and supported elements. Directs activities concerned with salvage and protection of supply items. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Selects, as assigned, or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and diversity objectives. Renders technical assistance and guidance to the Base Operations Manager, and higher levels of command for logistical services, and assists all other directorates with requisitioning supplies and equipment. Meets with National Guard Bureau personnel, other governmental agencies, state National Guard Commands and activities on logistical matters, plans, policies and directives. Develops plans to support continuous training center operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.

Qualifications

Military Grades: O4 through O5 Compatible Military Assignments: Officer CMF: 88A, 91A, 92A The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a general knowledge of one or more aspects of the supply field. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience supervising and/or managing supply personnel and a variety of supply functions. Knowledge on the entire inventory management supply system. Experience coordinating with other organizations on complex and controversial supply issues. Experience providing advice and guidance on supply regulations to upper levels of management regarding supply functions. Must have 12 months specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade.
