Duties
Note: The position located in Denver is required to travel 25% of the time to provide training & coverage for the position in Colorado Springs.
Conversely, the position located in Colorado Springs is required to travel 25% of the time to provide training & coverage for the position in Denver.
Dietitian Staff and Leadership Development Program Coordinator duties include, but aren't limited to the following:
Functions as expert in management and leadership development, adult education & professional development
Develops, manages & delivers specific course content for staff and leaders to develop & progress their careers
Applies & develops innovative customized teaching solutions to meet employees'/employer's diverse needs and preferences, to engage staff in learning and developmental activities & to inspire/motivate learners
Has extensive knowledge of healthcare operations & clinician needs & organizational leadership development strategies and programs knowledge
Independently develops/manages programs to deliver the following types of training/classes/workshops: 1) general training for all employees, 2) training developed for unique situations, 3) mandatory training for defined groups; 4) career/ professional development trainings & "soft-skill" trainings e.g. communication, goal-setting/planning, etc & 5) Executives, managers, supervisors & employees systematic development career progression training
Applies expert knowledge of sound educational design &/or hospital operations to design, develop & manage staff/leadership development courses appropriate to the subject matter, learning objectives, environment & expertise of learners
Course content may be at any level including undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate & professional continuing education
Develops/manages programs using new approaches, methods & techniques effective for developing all hospital staff
Applies expert project management strategies/principles to develop course work, targeted educational interventions & developmental activities series consistent w/ organizational education priorities & in collaboration w/ Designated Learning Officer
Employee/leadership development content includes multiple varied but related topics covering all levels from basic skills through executive competencies which are designed to increase employees' ability to perform at increasing levels of responsibility
Develops/updates course materials/documentation consistent w/ educational best practices, program content, &/or process/regulatory requirements by incorporating new technology/techniques resulting from continuous development & education technology/techniques advances
Maintains knowledge of hospital/educational accreditation requirements for various accrediting bodies across several domains & develops entire courses, course content & instructional activities to meet necessary accreditation requirements & make continuing education credits available for course participants & documents results
Creates classes/instructs course participants using ECHCS's unique educational technology capabilities to maximize training effectiveness
Facilitates assigned program/course evaluations & uses evaluation results to make necessary content changes
Assists in selecting, training & managing additional faculty/instructors for assigned employee/leadership development programs & leads training conferences
Develops/delivers training programs to develop faculty, instructors & coaches, including ways to ensure continued competency, including continued evaluation & oversight
Participates in agency operational/planning meetings, public briefings, or formal/informal settings to publicize organized development/educational program accomplishments & solicit resources/other cooperation necessary to ensure program success
Serves as liaison w/ policy-level officials w/in agency to ensure agency's views/interests are promoted through assigned programs w/ respect to current/emerging policy issues & that those views are taken into consideration in policy development/implementation
Demonstrates I-Care values when interacting w/ all internal/external customers
Maintains current knowledge of & practices in accordance w/ The Joint Commission requirements
Protects printed & electronic files containing sensitive data according to Federal privacy Act & confidentiality statutes
Follows regulations & instructions regarding release of sensitive/protected patient/ employee information
May serve on Service Line committees, workgroups, &/or task forces, etc
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
English Language Proficiency. Applicants must be proficient in spoken & written English
Registration. All applicants must hold the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, RDN or Registered Dietitian, RD credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration, CDR the credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Note: Applicants who hold the RDN credential have met the education requirement (e.g. bachelor's degree or higher) of CDR, as such this occupation is considered professional and scientific with a positive education requirement and the procedures in Part I, Chapter 4 of Handbook 5005 will be followed when applying Veteran's preference.
Foreign Education. To be creditable, college and/or university degrees earned outside the U.S and its territories must be evaluated by ACEND® and meet ACEND®'s International Dietitian Education standards which are designed to provide graduates with the knowledge and competencies to sit for the CDR credentialing exam.
Loss of Credential. In collaboration with HR Office staff, management officials must immediately relieve employees who fail to maintain the required registration/certification of duties and responsibilities associated with the occupation and/or assignment, which may also result in separation from employment.
Grade Determination: GS-12
Dietitian (Facility Program Coordinator), GS-12.
Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
AND
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, KSAs. In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs:
1) Knowledge of program administration establishes program goals and objectives, coordinates activities, evaluates accomplishments and solves problems.
2) Skill in developing quality improvement or research activities.
3) Skill in developing training and reference materials.
4) Ability to develop policies and procedures.
5) Ability to provide program-specific coordination to include leadership, technical advice and staff development.
Preferred Experience: Program Management experience, preferably with educational programs; experience with industrial design-e.g. developing education and training programs; experience teaching, facilitating and instructing courses for adult learners; and experience with leadership coaching, training and instruction.

The full performance level of this vacancy is a GS-12. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is a GS-12.
