About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) and Schofield Barracks servicing the Department of Clinical Support Preventative Medicine, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Duties
At the full-performance grade level, you will perform the following duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Recommend solutions to potential or current health hazards in the work environment.
Conduct assessments ensuring buildings are in compliance with government health.
Perform respirator testing, providing training on usage and care.
Perform inspections to assess potential health hazards in the work environment.
Enter data collected from surveys or air samples into Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Reporting System (DOEHRS-IH) database.
Conduct training and orientation for employees where actual or potential health hazards exist.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 30lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid, current state driver's license.
- Incumbent must be able to possess or obtain and maintain Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Reporting System (DOEHRS-IH) Certification within six months of hire date.
- The duties of this position may require the incumbent to be on call based on the needs of the organization.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.

Specialized Experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting in the identification of workplace safety hazards; and 2) Assisting with independent inspections. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Specialized Experience for GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Using industrial hygiene concepts and practices by performing independent inspections; and 2) Evaluating hazardous work conditions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Specialized Experience for GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting Industrial Hygiene surveys; 2) Analyzing survey results; and 3) Educating the workforce on potential health hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
