Duties

Knowledge of administrative and procurement policies and procedures used in support of supply operations to procure and distribute supplies, services, and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively to present information in easy to understand formats to increase the understanding of the information. Review data provided by supervisors and managers and consolidate information provided into summaries and/or reports. Identify recurring budget issues or problems. Purchase supplies and equipment using simplified acquisition procedures; assist employees on the submission of purchase requests. Assist with the development and formulation of budget involving multiple accounts and/or funding sources.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience. At the GS-06 Level: Specialized Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the federal service. Specialized experience includes performing routine clerical and administrative duties, providing information and customer service to internal and external customers by phone, email or in person; assist in developing and formulating an office budget; prepare written correspondence using automated systems; skill in computer software programs and data entry. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: The work is typically sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. The incumbent may frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and/or carry file folders, copied materials, books, and other similar materials. Work Environment: Work is typically located in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. The work environment may involve everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, mail distribution centers, meeting and training rooms, libraries, or motor vehicles.

Education

This position falls under the Miscellaneous Clerk and Assistant Series, 0303 Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. There are no Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for this job series.

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-06 grade level.
