You will serve as a Hazardous Waste Disposer in the Compliance & Quality Department, Environmental Division of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will collect, process, package and prepare hazardous wastes for temporary storage and disposal.
You will operate manual and power lifting devices and motor vehicles to pick up, transport, and temporarily store industrial waste and other types of hazardous waste.
You will visually examine hazardous waste containers at generation sites for leakage and other indications of deterioration.
You will operate computer terminals to access databases for processing, storing, and shipping requirements.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required obtain and maintain required certification and/ or license, as a condition of employment.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including: : 1) Separating, combining and transporting hazardous chemicals and substances; 3) Demonstrating detailed knowledge of the methods and procedures required to collect, package, and temporarily store hazardous wastes; 3) Knowledge of a variety of shipping and labeling requirements necessary to repack a wide variety of hazardous wastes and 4) Understanding chemical characteristics of hazardous wastes to ensure safe processing and containment.
