This position is part of the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - Headquarters, Department of Energy. As an Interdisciplinary Supervisory General Engineer/Physical Scientist, you will serve as the Deputy Director of the Industrial Efficiency Decarbonization Office (IEDO). This position shares in the duties, responsibilities, and authorities of the Director (IEDO).

  • First time supervisors will be required to serve a 1 year probationary period.
  • A preliminary background check must be completed before a new employee can begin work. Current Federal employees or other individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check.
  • This position is not included in the Bargaining Unit.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT: You must meet both the Basic Requirement and the Specialized Experience to qualify for this series as described below. See the "Education" section for the Basic Requirement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities/competencies to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Providing technical, programmatic analysis and advice to leadership in support of program planning and policy development pertaining to industrial efficiency and decarbonization technologies; AND Evaluating the effectiveness of Federal, State, and local government policies and incentives for the market transformation of industrial efficiency and decarbonization technologies; AND Managing research, development and demonstration projects related to industrial efficiency and decarbonization processes to provide direction, consultation, advice, technical input, and analyses to stakeholders. NOTE: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-15 level. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
