About the Position: This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).

Duties

Lead the congressional and legislative portfolio and is an expert advisor to senior executive officials in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). Lead the preparation and response to congressional correspondence, to include posture statements, views, reports, appeals, questions and inserts for the record to advance the concept of elevating service member and family's quality of life stature. Prepare and advise personnel on congressional reporting requirements, decision briefs, action memos, and other pertinent material and data to facilitate decision making by senior executive level officials. Oversee the Omnibus legislative proposal cycle by developing, coordinating, and submitting legislative proposals to benefit military families' emerging and enduring needs. Lead the tracking and analysis of pending legislation (including standalone bills, authorization bills, and appropriation bills) and hearing transcripts to identify impacts. Conduct numerous, complex and high-priority special assignments that often involve unprecedented and complex issues in which scope and objectives shift as the work progresses. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.

Requirements
