About the Position: Work is performed in kitchen areas where steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably high temperatures and humidity. The work area is well lighted but usually noisy from food service activities. There is danger of slipping on floors where food or beverages have been spilled. Regular exposure to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezers.
Duties
Receive patient food orders by telephone and from the diet office.
Conduct final checks of diet trays and orders.
Prepare and distribute individual nourishment to nurse stations, patients, and patient areas.
Prepare and arrange food and beverage items (both hot and cold) for service, based on diet orders.
Record and retrieve recipes, menus, and inventory data.
Requirements
- Occasional TDY may be required (5%).
- This position is designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Incumbent may be required to perform call duties; work overtime to include weekends and federal holidays, out of cycle, or unscheduled training or on an emergency basis.
- The work will require the incumbent to work evenings/nights; rotating shifts, extended hours or other schedules common to hospital operations.
- This position requires the wear of personal protective equipment.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement, and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker~ without more than normal supervision. Your resume must show demonstrated experience performing Food Service tasks including: food preparation; patient food tray delivery and pickup; dishware washing and sanitation in a hospital or medical treatment facility; washing and cleaning kitchen and dining area equipment to include dishes, pots and pans; and sanitizing and cleaning the work area. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work requires light to moderate physical effort. The work requires continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. You may be required to lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 20 pounds.
