About the Position: This position is located in Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH). The medical services employ a workforce of approximately 1,480 military and civilian workers. Fort Campbell lies on the Kentucky/Tennessee border between Hopkinsville, KY & Clarksville, TN. Clarksville was voted as the 2019 Best Place to Live in America by Money Magazine.

Duties

Use simple food handling techniques and sequence of tasks to complete assignments. Follow verbal and written instructions. Prepare food for cooking and serving. Use mechanical equipment such as potato peelers and can openers. Clean manual and electrical equipment after use. Maintain, clean, and sanitize assigned area.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This is an Inclement Weather Essential position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions.
  • Incumbent is required to wear any personal protective equipment as applicable to the duties of this position.
  • This position is designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Occasional TDY may be required (up to 5%).
  • This position may require rotating shifts.

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Your resume must show demonstrated experience performing common tasks of a Food Service Worker that includes: Food service, operating electrical kitchen equipment AND housekeeping under close supervision of a work lead or journey-level Food Service Worker who observes tasks in progress and upon completion makes sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices Physical Efforts: Frequently lifts and moves item weighing 30 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Work requires standing and walking, reaching and stooping. Working Conditions: Work area is often hot and noisy, and there is exposure to minor cuts and bruises, burns and scalds. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from daily mopping or spilled food or beverages. Incumbent is subject to extremes of temperature when moving from kitchen to walk-in refrigerators, and is subject to standing and walking on tile floors. Working conditions have been considered in the evaluation of this job.
