The selectee for this position will serve as a FAMILY ADVOCACY PROGRAM VICTIM ADVOCATE in the Commander Navy Installations of NAVAL STATION.
Duties
You will identify needs of families experiencing domestic violence to provide counseling or assistance.
You will assess individual needs of each family to provide treatment or referrals for family violence cases (e.g., domestic partners, child abuse).
You will identify crisis situations (e.g., suicidal or homicide risk, danger of physical or sexual abuse to family members, increased risk of further family violence) through clinical assessment to provide crisis intervention and safety planning.
You will coordinate legal, medical, and social services to assist in treatments and referrals.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Professional knowledge of social services work, counseling services, psychosocial principles and theories, and group dynamics of family and individual systems as may have been acquired through earning a baccalaureate degree in counseling, education, psychology or related behavioral sciences; 2) Competency in crisis intervention skills, safety planning and procedures, and civilian and military orders of protection.; 3) Provides advocacy services for victims of spouse/intimate partner abuse and non-offending parents/caregivers of victims of child abuse; 4) Screens victims of domestic violence, evaluating their needs and provides them with information about domestic violence, safe and confidential ways to seek assistance and their rights as military spouses. Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
Specialized Experience for the GS-09 may be substituted with the following education:
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
master's or equivalent graduate degree
