About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army, Pacific, HQ USARHAW and 25th Infantry Division. Duty Station Location: Schofield Barracks, HI.
Duties
Manages security of the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) program and the operational security of the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SClFs) and Temporary Secure Work Areas (TSWAs).
Manages and operates SCI secure communications (voice and video teleconferencing).
Provides guidance on Special Security Office (SSO) policy and procedures.
Serves as point of contact and liaison concerning SCI matters between the local command, the MACOM and DIA.
Manages Site Based Accreditation in conjunction with the Defense Intelligence Information System (DoDIIS) IAM and higher headquarters.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- May require temporary duty (TDY) travel (25%).
- May be required to work additional duty overtime hours during crisis or due to tasking.
- Must be able to obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is defined as: experience in Special Security Officer (SSO) responsibility, managing and implementing of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Sensitive Compartmented Information facilities (SCIFs) in compliance with policy and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
