This position is located in the Office of Sanction Policy and Implementation (SPI), a component of the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). As a Sanctions Policy Analyst, you will be implementing, administering, and evaluating aspects of the U.S. government's sanctions programs, ensuring that they are developed and implemented in a manner consistent with regulatory and statutory requirements and U.S. foreign policy and national security priorities.

Duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Independently develop policy options, for consideration by Treasury officials, for using the authorities under which OFAC operates to address new and emerging threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States. Participate in defining policy options in the development of new sanctions programs. Coordinate OFAC's activities in the implementation of sanctions legislation passed by Congress, the development of new Executive orders and regulatory programs and regulations to carry out new sanctions imposed by Congress or the President or to reflect amendments in U.S. foreign policy with respect to existing sanctions programs. Monitor legislative activity relating to OFAC programs to ensure compliance with U.S. policy, and review and provide comments on legislative proposals affecting OFAC.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-14: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience with respect to U.S. economic sanctions or trade embargo programs administered by Treasury/OFAC. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to: 1. Policy analysis, development, implementation, and evaluation of U.S. economic sanctions programs; AND/OR 2. Legal or policy aspects or international trade, international investments, and/or international financial transactions.; AND Experience with effective oral and written communication of substantive and technical sanctions issues. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to legal or U.S. sanctions policy analysis, including writing for a professional audience, providing training or presentations explaining sanctions, regulations, or statutes. Specialized experience for the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience with respect to U.S. economic sanctions or trade embargo programs imposed by the President, U.S. national security, and/or foreign policy. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to policy analysis, development, and/or implementation or evaluation of U.S. economic sanctions programs.; AND Experience with effective oral and written communication of technical sanctions issues such as legal or U.S. foreign policy analysis. Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience reviewing U.S. economic sanctions or trade embargo programs imposed by the President, U.S. national security, and/or foreign policy. Examples of this experience could include but are not limited to assisting in the development of policy analysis and/or evaluation of U.S. economic sanctions programs.; AND Experience reviewing written communication of issues such as U.S. foreign policy analysis and sanctions.
