About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District. You will perform a variety of technical and administrative program duties that support the Commander, the Deputy District Commander, the Chief of Staff, as well as other members of the Executive Office.
Duties
Serve as the administrative liaison between the Executive Office, internal divisions/offices, and external clients.
Review and revise a variety of administrative program support functions.
Apply a high degree of tact and diplomacy with meeting with customers and the public.
Represent the Executive Office at meetings concerning administrative issues and provides appropriate feedback.
Multi-task high priority issues based on constantly changing demands and deadlines.
Plan and oversee various functions that are essential to the direction and operation of the organization.
Evaluate when new or updated procedures are required.
Establish and control a variety of program support functions for the Executive Office.
Utilize a wide range of office automation equipment and technology to develop, prepare, and write correspondence, reports, and capture telephone conversations that involve technical and specialized terminology.
Review and edit format and the integrity of all documents requiring the Commander’s authorization and signature.
Maintain personal administrative files on all assigned personnel.
Maintain records on a variety of administrative functions, such as, performance appraisals, progress tracking, and management reports.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement approximately 25% of the time for training purposes and to attend congressional meetings.
- This position requires the incumbent to be issued a government cellular phone in order to be contacted in the event of an emergency.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Organizing large events, functions, or meeting; 2) Utilizing office automation tools to perform everyday administrative tasks, such as, developing presentations, spreadsheets, reports, calendar invites, emails, etc.; 3) Coordinating with other staff members to route inquiries for resolution; AND 4) Monitoring tasks or suspense's for an office or organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Marketing, and Finance.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
