About the Position: Serves as a Maintenance Worker at a lake project, performing a variety of duties associated with the maintenance and operation of the dam and appurtenant structures, and may include a number of public use recreational facilities in the lake area.
Duties
Performs work related to a variety of trades such as carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and welding.
Apply premixed paint to rough work.
Performs repetitive duties incidental to the servicing, maintenance, and operation of dam equipment and facilities.
Duties include threading and bending pipe or conduit, cutting boards and pipe to specified lengths.
Participates with higher grade maintenance mechanics in the construction, alteration, maintenance, and repair of buildings, structures, utilities, and other facilities related to the operation and maintenance of a lake project.
Performs grass cutting duties, gasoline and/or diesel engine repairing.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position meets the criteria for random drug testing under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program as supplemented by USACE Pamphlet 600-1-3.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid, State-issued Driver’s license.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a Corps of Engineers certification to operate a motorboat.
- Incumbent is required to wear a Corps of Engineers uniform.
- This position requires successful completion of pre-employment and/or annual physical examinations as required. It is mandatory for your continued employment in this position to successfully pass annual physical examinations.
- Incumbent must lift objects up to and occasionally in excess of 50 pounds.
- Alternates weekend and holiday work schedules.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. At a minimum, your level of experience must show your ability to perform repairs to hydraulic systems, finished carpentry work, finished masonry work, plumbing systems, roofing, and structural work. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Performs duties from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms where areas are hard to reach. Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and work in cramped positions. Frequently required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Works outside a substantial part of the time subject to extreme weather. Work involves walking, climbing of ladders, steps, slopes, and uneven surfaces. Subject to dirt, grease, mud, and other substances while performing work. There is danger of injury while using power tools and other equipment, of strains and sprains from lifting and working in cramped, positions, and of drowning when working in the proximity of water. Protective equipment may be required while mixing and spraying of herbicides and other chemicals, if applicable.
