This position is located at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA. The Interior Design Assistant will collaborate with engineers, IT, supply chain, housekeeping and other service lines in order to efficiently complete furniture installations and optimization and renovations of work spaces.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include:
Assisting with installation of projects, including hanging artwork, placing furniture, and styling accessories.
Conducting post-project follow-up with clients to ensure satisfaction.
Acting as the coordinator for planned and unplanned furniture and other related moves from one location to another.
Coordinating all incoming furniture deliveries and moves with the Facility Planning office.
Overseeing the assembly, disassembly, and reassembly of various types of furniture.
Coordinating storage of furniture, and equipment in designed areas arranged by the Facility Planning office.
Responsible for storage space utilization of all stock and furniture in accordance with regulations.
Independently plans maximum space utilization and protection of materials by consolidating and relocating materials as needed.
Preparing inventory reports, overseeing the receiving and logging of all incoming furniture and equipment. Checking shipping documents to verify and ensuring incoming and outgoing shipments are in proper order prior to final receiving.
Unloading and stacking incoming furniture and equipment.
Identifying damage to furniture and equipment through visual inspection.
May be required to operate large warehouse vehicles such as cargo trucks, pallet jacks, and regular vehicles. May operate forklifts and related vehicles in holding areas on unpaved, un-improved or difficult terrain in the warehouse. Using pallet jacks, side loaders, dollies, and other appropriate moving equipment to complete assigned jobs.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-5 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess 1 year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to this Interior Design Assistant position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes assisting with installation of projects, including hanging artwork, placing furniture, and styling accessories; coordinating storage of furniture and equipment; coordinating the move of furniture to other facilities; preparing inventory reports and receiving/logging all incoming furniture and equipment. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.)

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: You must have successfully completed 4 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. One full year of graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)

Physical Requirements: The work requires some physical exertion, such as continuous standing, walking, crouching and stooping at design project location. Recurring Lifts, carries, and moves objects weighing over 50 pounds with assistance. Works both inside and outside, occasionally in bad weather, exposed to hot and cold temperatures, difficult terrain, blowing dirt and dust, drafts, noise, grease and fumes. As required, uses safety equipment and clothing such as coveralls, ear protectors, safety glasses and shoes, gloves, and hardhats.
