You will serve as the Acquisition Manager in support of the future attack submarine development at the Future Attack Submarine Project Office (Code 0CA2) of Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, Rhode Island (NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI).

Duties

You will provide advice on submarine developmental and acquisition. You will provide support in Defense Acquisition for Programs, System Engineering, Cost Engineering, Contracting and Contracts Management. You will influence major acquisitions strategy, planning, and the overall direction of the program in achieving the required Defense Acquisition Milestones. You will evaluate feasibility of new concepts and principles and make recommendations on continuance or abandonment of work. You will support system development efforts relating to ships, with emphasis on acquisition and management, system engineering and technology development.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 pay band (GS-12/13 grade level equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer or scientist advising on system development and acquisition (e.g., cost engineering, cost estimating, industrial analysis, contracting) to ensure program management (e.g., budget development, schedules, plans, procedures, monitoring) for a ship or ship systems development program office. For 0801, All Professional Engineering Series: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
