This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U. S. Coast Guard (USCG), Assistant Commandant for Human Resources (CG-1), Human Resources Strategy & Capability Development Office (CG-1B), Human Systems Integration Division (CG-1B3), Washington, DC.
Duties
You will serve as Program Specialist within the Human Systems Integration (HSI) Division, you will be responsible for providing administrative and program support to CG-1B3 staff. You will provide general routine document tasks including preparing, editing, updating, and routine acquisition project management documentation; scheduling and coordinating meetings to discuss non-concurrence of acquisition reviews; filing and maintaining all acquisition emails, documents, comments, and concurrent clearance forms for historical purposes.
Qualifications
For GS-7: Applicants must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-5 level work may include: assisting with collecting and consolidating administrative data; participating in budget formulation activities; and providing assistance to employees relating to personnel, travel and procurement.ORApplicants may substitute successful completion of one full year of graduate level education which provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.ORA combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience that which meets the total qualification requirement for the GS-07 level.ORSuperior Academic Achievement.For GS-9: Applicants must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Examples of GS-7 level work include assisting with: collecting and consolidating administrative data, and identifying any significant trends; participating in the accumulation of expenses and the determination of financial trends; reviewing administrative guidelines and procedures to determine their applicability to straightforward issues at hand; providing assistance to employees relating to personnel issues; and reviewing contract proposals to ensure adherence to guidelines and policy.ORApplicants may substitute successful completion of 2 years of progressively higher level, directly related, graduate education or master's or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.B or J.D).ORA combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) that is beyond the first year of progressive graduate study to meet the qualification requirements.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
