You will serve as a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC in the Maintenance Division of NAS WHIDBEY ISLAND SRCH/RESCUE.
Duties
You will inspect fuel cell conditions for hydraulic leaks and cut lines.
You will maintain specific tolerances, tensions, or adjustments with the use of tools and precision instruments (e.g., gauges, micrometers, torque wrenches, calipers).
You will interpret instructions in a group setting to determine specific requirements for each team member.
You will repair damaged metal, composite, and fabric surfaces to maintain aircraft structures.
You will follow procedures for flight control cables (e.g. installation procedures, rigging procedures) to verify accurate placement on an aircraft.
You will coordinate with production, quality assurance, and engineering representatives to resolve issues related to aircraft rework.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana). A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Providing assistance in maintenance and/or repair on aircrafts such as helicopters; 2) Utilizing common hand tools and special aircraft related equipment (i.e. pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, tensiometers, torque wrenches, multimeters, volumeters, wire strippers, soldering equipment, blade trackers, and vibration analyzers) to perform maintenance and repair duties; and 3) Following detailed procedures that specify task sequences, tolerances, etc. to perform repairs.
