About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.

Duties

Provides administrative support for a Directorate or Academic Department within the Dean Directorate at the United States Military Academy, West Point. Processes and tracks approved expenditures. Prepares and reviews a variety of procurement documentation, funding documents, administrative reports, and similar documents required to support program funding and procurement actions. Coordinates the organization's hand receipts to properly account for high-value items, lab and/or durable equipment in support of operations. Serves as the point of contact for information on policies, procedures, and requirements on matters pertaining to administrative functions. Maintains Approving Official’s (AO) budget by loading funding targets into Defense Travel System (DTS) budget module. Assists in the preparation, consolidation and completion of a variety of management and research reports, acquisition documents, planning documents, and briefing materials.

GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) utilizing automated systems to input, query, and/or retrieve administrative, program, and/or financial data; 2) providing guidance to personnel on matters pertaining to an organization's administrative functions; 3) assisting in scheduling or coordinating events for an organization; and 4) preparing funding, procurement, or administrative documents such as purchase requests or management reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer SkillsConcepts, Policies, and Principles of BudgetOrganizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement (GS-06): Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
