You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the Production Resources Department, Nuclear Production Manager (Code 300N) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will develop project work packaging strategies for execution. You will coordinate and monitor a project team of 5 to 20 Work Packaging Planners. You will establish schedule priorities for Project Zone Managers. You will release work to project managers for execution. You will evaluate plans for provisions of support for feasibility. You will represent the WPC Manager at various project planning and management meetings.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • I am willing and able to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience of nuclear applying comprehensive knowledge of nuclear production methods, technical procedures, funding, materials and equipment for ship maintenance, repair, and overhaul of complex Navy vessels. Experience with primary and secondary reactor plant systems, Nuclear Power Manual (NPM) chapters, Technical Work Documents (TWDs), and radiological control procedures applicable to nuclear ship maintenance and repair. Experience utilizing Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) processes, and knowledge of project computer applications. Experience utilizing the Work Package Control (WPC) module of Advance Industrial Management to resolve discrepancies. Experience utilizing the Nuclear WPC of Advance Industrial Management to implement corrective actions.
