About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency Tidewater Market, providing urgent care, primary care and a full range of occupational health services to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Clinical Servies Department, Medical Surveillance Division, Branch Medical Clinic Portsmouth, Virgnia. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Review and analyze entire medical record for completeness, consistency, and compliance with established requirements for personnel enrolled. Apply extensive knowledge of both medical practice and terminology and thorough knowledge of established requirements for medical qualification/disqualification to perform duties. Prepare appropriate forms and enters patient data into and retrieve data from computer system. Interview patients and obtain medical histories. Prepare correspondence, summarize information requested from medical records and Prepare medical forms associated with specific physical examination. File medically related information into individual medical records. Provide customer service and front desk and patient check in services.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Selectee will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• Lifting requirement: 20 lbs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining custody of patient medical records, extracting and inputting documents into patient records and processing data in an automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
