You will serve as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Leader (Expert) in DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.
You will serve as an Expert Air Conditioning Equipment (ACE) Mechanic leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed. Positions are located in the Air Conditioning Equipment Shop 99.
Applicants will only be considered for positions within their own UIC. For example: If you are within UIC 4523A, you will only be considered for positions within 4523A.
Duties
You will serve as an Expert Air Conditioning Equipment (ACE) Mechanic performing maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, installation, modification, and testing of new and existing shipboard refrigeration systems and components.
You will work in accordance with developed technical direction including blueprints and sketches to plan and layout the routing and placement of various system components and equipment.
You will exercise leadership skills to mentor, demonstrate new techniques and instruct ACE employees in a wide range of complex repairs and troubleshooting of refrigeration equipment.
You will work to continuously to improve trade processes and keep shop personnel and management apprised of new technologies, procedures and tooling improvements associated with shop work.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position requires the ability to climb vertical ladders working in awkward positions and entering tight spaces.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 40 pounds in weight.
- This position may require exposure to high noise levels.
- This position requires the ability to operate a government vehicle.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
