This position is located at US Mint,Philadelphia Mint-MANUFA DEPT/Plant Mgr PA/OFFICE OF ADMIN PA/Facilities Maint Div/UTILITIES SEC. As a Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Leader, you will be responsible for performing work leader duties in conjunction with the Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic (ACEM) duties in the Utilities Section of the Facilities Maintenance Division.
Duties
As aAir Conditioning Equipment Mechanic Leader, you will:
Assign work in accordance with workloads established by the Supervisor and serves as the subject matter expert and answers questions on procedures, written instructions and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
Make technical recommendations, keeps abreast of technological advances in the field.
Obtain and maintain a forklift and personnel aerial lift device (PALD) operator license.
Relay pertinent technical aspects of job assignments received from the supervisor and makes specific assignments to ensure proper job sequence and most effective and efficient use of time, labor, materials, and equipment are met.
Participate with immediate supervisor in technical aspects of initial planning of future work, budgets, staffing, equipment needs and projects.
Maintain current knowledge level, answers questions of other workers on procedures, written instructions, and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
Work with other workers, setting the pace and demonstrating proper work methods.
Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots malfunctions on a variety of complex integrated heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in production, administrative, laboratory and maintenance areas.
In order to work in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration, you must possess a license (Type I, II, and III).
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Performs work on ladders, platforms, and hard-to-reach places. Stands, stoops, reaches, kneels, climbs, and works in awkward positions when performing the work. Lifts tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and frequently lifts in excess of 40 pounds.
This position works with electrical color-coded wires and must have the ability to distinguish them correctly to perform electrical connections safely.
AND
The tests for electrical workers include the Ishihara color-plate test and the Farnsworth test. A score of 10 out of 11 on the Ishihara color-plate test is normal color vision, and no further testing is needed. Workers that fail the Ishihara test will be tested using the Farnsworth test. Failing both tests indicate a color vision deficiency, which must be corrected in order to safely perform electrical wiring.
Selective Factor: In order to work in the field of air conditioning and refrigeration, you must possess a Universal (Type I, II, or III) license for refrigeration.
