This position is located in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness (OASD R), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, USD (P&R). The ASD Readiness is responsible for policy formulation, program and budget review, and staff oversight for all military readiness programs: Service and Joint to include inter-agency, intergovernmental, and multi-national.

Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
Elicit analysis and technical requirements from customers and stakeholders to identify problems and business cases (practical applications) to be addressed by an analytic application or project.
Conducts operations research and analytical studies that involve application of operations research techniques and methodologies to problems of join force readiness over time.
Compiles the results of their analysis and modeling efforts in narrative form with accompanying visualizations or plots for inclusion in formal briefs and reports.

- This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business on military or commercial aircraft.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:
This position requires a degree in Operations Research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject matter courses requiring substantial competence in college level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability finding, accessing, and interpreting data; summarizing, visualizing, and briefing large volumes of information and analysis to answer senior-level questions and inform decisions; and supporting the development of analysis for force planning, design, and development efforts.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
