About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency - National Capital Region serving as front desk scheduling coordinator, receptionist, template manager, appointments coordinator, and managed medical care consultant for the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Department of Surgery.

Duties
Serves as one of the front desk scheduling coordinators, receptionist, template managers, appointments coordinator, and managed medical care consultant.
Compiles routine and special reports, patients' medical records, appointing data, and health care options for beneficiaries to be utilized by senior management to improve efficiency and the effectiveness of clinical performance.
Manages and coordinates clerical duties inherent to front desk operations in the patient care setting.
Monitors end of day processing for data quality; captures Inpatient Consults on a daily basis.
Provides training to clinic personnel. Must have understanding of other automated systems and be able to train new Providers/Fellows/Residents/Interns/Medical Support Assistants on proper use of systems.
Prepares and coordinates all consultation and referral appointments to insure and facilitate proper
patient care and interacts with other physicians and clinics to avoid administrative problems or delays.
Reviews incoming and outgoing correspondence for accuracy according to established guidance; makes changes as appropriate.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96 the position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculin testing unless exempt by physician.
Qualifications

Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a
5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: receiving patients and visitors in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) or clinic setting; scheduling patient appointments and/or coordinating patient referral appointments; answering phones, maintaining patient records and inputting medical data and preparing a variety of reports utilizing automated healthcare systems.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
