The Marion VA Health Care System is seeking a full-time Program Support Assistant (PSA) to work in our Chaplain Service. The Program Support Assistant is the primary administrative support and point of contact for the service.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant provides administrative, personnel, budget and office automation support to ensure efficient functioning of the Chaplain Service of the Marion, Illinois, VA Health Care System including the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program. The employee serves as the primary administrative point of contact for the Chief Chaplain and the Chaplain Service. Proficient knowledge of computer applications and office automation software packages to manage and manipulate data, produce reports, compose correspondence and emails, and maintain suspense items is critical to the Service. Along with administrative support, the incumbent trains staff and students on computerized medical records, services as the service timekeeper, records manager, education system manager, and manager for electronic access to data and automated programing for the Chaplain Service.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, excluding federal holidays.
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/13/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; answering telephones. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements: Work is performed primarily in an office setting and is sedentary in nature.
