This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Technician/Administrative Support Work Category at the Entry/Developmental Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA - DEFENSE SPECTRUM ORGANIZATION
Duties
Performs procedural and routine tasks and works closely with a team leader and/or supervisor, in a training capacity, on assigned tasks.
In a training environment work may involve systems and services used in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, and switching.
Assists in troubleshooting accessibility and availability problems and initiates corrective actions.
Performs a variety of limited technical tasks designed to familiarize the incumbent with regulatory guidelines, terminology, procedures and techniques of Information Technology.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This position is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited school.
- Must be enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) at a qualifying educational institution on a full or half time basis.
- Official/Unofficial transcripts with the current enrollment course load.
Qualifications
This position is eligible for non-competitive conversion into a career progression position with a full performance level of a GG12 . Conversion to a permanent position without further competition is not mandatory or guaranteed.
Student Interns qualify based on their educational achievements. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
Currently enrolled (Fall 2023) or accepted (Spring 2024) for enrollment and seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis, as defined by the educational institution.
This position requires a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. (You MUST submit transcripts or proof of education to verify your claim)
For the GG-01 grade level: Enrollment in a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) program.
For the GG-02 grade level: Completion of high school or GED diploma.
For the GG-03 grade level: Completion of I full academic year of post-high school study.
For the GG-04 grade level: Completion of 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.
For the GG-05 grade level: Completion of 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor's degree or equivalent degree.
For the GG-07 grade level: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education or eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement after completing a bachelor's degree.
For the GG-09 grade level: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or Master's or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D.

Education
