This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). As a Audio Visual Information Specialist you will serve as a technical and maintenance advisor for video and audio support for distance learning classrooms, operate and maintain equipment specific to program needs for instructional television, professional video and internet transmission systems and equipment at local and remote sites.
Duties
As a Audio Visual Information SpecialistGS-1001-7, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Perform routine maintenance on television/professional video conference systems and equipment.
Assist with installation, operation and maintenance of upgrades for multimedia classrooms.
Assist with functional and operational test to evaluate quality and performance of video and/or audio reception, production and transmission.
Operate video conferencing bridge and Codec.
Configure and maintain technical network live wireless audio and video footage on or off campus events.
Assists in the preparation and development of visual media and presentation material in support of the organization's programs.
Provide customers with guidance and assistance.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Audio Visual Information Specialist, GS-1001-07:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience includes: assist in installing and perform routine maintenance online/local ITV Systems, TCP/IP equipment; assist with functional and operational tests of video and/or audio reception, production and transmission; and provide assistance in the development of visual media products.
OR
1 full year of graduate level education directly related to the work of the position.
OR
A bachelor's degree and have eligibility under the superior academic achievement provision.
OR
You may qualify with a combination of experience and graduate level education. To combine education and experience, your total qualifying experience is calculated as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then, your education is calculated as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. The two percentages are added together. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level.
