About the Position: This position is located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.

Duties

Maintain daily calendar, making appointments and arranging conferences and meetings, using independent judgment based on knowledge of the Chief's schedule and desires. Provide assistance between the Chief and the services and staff personnel by accurate, timely advice on procedures, reports, requirements, and other matters necessary to implement the Chief's directives and instructions. Receive visitors and telephone calls to the Chief and nature of call or business of visitors. Make necessary arrangements for travel, both domestic and foreign, arranging schedule of visits, preparing transportation requests and make hotel reservations, retrieving flight documentation and tickets, and submitting travel vouchers and reports. Prepare correspondence, reports, medical summaries, and telephone conversations involving both technical and highly specialized medical terminology.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical support services to include preparing reports; answering telephones, maintaining daily calendars; submit timekeeping, scheduling appointments and conferences, proof reading outgoing correspondence, entering and/or extracting data from a computer; and screening visitors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business or Healthcare Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Education must have been obtained from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:ClericalComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
