Duties

This position allows you to use your expertise in administration to provide advisory and technical services to CBP Management. This position starts at a salary of $57,118.00 (GS-9, Step 1) to $74,250.00 (GS-9, Step 10) with promotion potential to $74,250.00 (GS-9 Step 10). As a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist) who plans and carries out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations. Major duties include: Records management and preparing/ processing various property reports; assisting with managing pay, overtime, leave and administration; researching suppliers and working with requesters to procure goods/services, preparing required documentation for approval. Applying a wide range of administrative programs concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical methods to address technical issues or problems relating to logistics and procurement services and processes. Maintaining inventory control over all tactical, medical and search and rescue equipment. Reviewing and processing all government purchase card transactions. Maintaining procurement system to include tracking DHS-1501, GSA documents and budget ledgers.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Establishing priorities and methods as necessary to accomplish tasks in a timely manner; Developing tracking/filing systems for incoming and outgoing correspondence Providing support to a wide variety of budget and purchasing processes; Updating and maintaining electronic property databases and systems Evaluating and analyzing administrative programs to identify productivity standards, measures of performance and reporting procedures and resource utilization effectiveness and efficiency. Conducting inventory, records management and preparing a variety of property reports. Identifying and recommending solutions to administrative problems and providing advice to staff on established methods and procedures. Education Substitution: A Master's degree, two full years of graduate education, a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 10/06/2023.
