This position is located at the Office of Environmental Health & Engineering District Office in Pierre, SD. The employee works under the supervision of the Director, Division of Clinical Engineering in Aberdeen, SD. The employee will be responsible for overseeing the operations of a Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Equipment Repair and supervises six (6) employees.
Duties
Assist other engineering disciplines for planning health care facilities and special care units to include equipment planning; space requirements and planning; generating specifications; and provide drawings.
Coordinates assignment and completion of monthly maintenance, equipment repair/replacement, and project tasks with equipment techniians throughout the Great Plains Area.
Serves as Project Manager and Contracting Officer Representative for contracts involving the installation, service, and repair of highly complex medical equipment and systems.
Advises clinical staff regarding technical review of new equipment considering needs, environment, available facilities, network requirements, quality, repair ability, purchase, etc
Assists with equipment selection application, care, and operations; and advises prospective users on maintainability, suitability, and adaptability of equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-11 in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Selects, installs and provides preventive maintenance of sophisticated medical and dental equipment. Recordkeeping activities to maintain compliance with statutory regulations and accreditation standards. Skills in management, supervision, and coordination of activities needed to implement equipment contract actions within differing health care program environments. Acquisition planning necessary to support on-going multi-year programs relating to the delivery of health care.
Time In Grade (Merit Promotion Only) Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
