This position serves as a Program Assistant (OA) located within the Pain Management Team for Primary Care Services at Veterans Affairs Pacific Island Health Care System (VAPIHCS). The position is to performs a variety of clerical, administrative and technical duties/responsibilities in support of Pain Management Team (PMT) which consists of 10-15 multi disciplinary staff members.
Duties
Duties will include but not be limited to:
Ensuring Veterans have all the requirements (email account, smart device, and internet access) for utilizing VA Video Connect (VVC) and if not, then assisting Veterans obtain the required technology through the Digital Divide consult and VAPIHCS Telehealth Service.
Reserving conference room space (which is very competitive), scheduling (in all PMT clinics to include Face to Face, telephone, group, and VA Video Connect or VVC clinics), scheduling guest speakers, and ensuring accommodations are available for the veterans with disabilities so they may receive the maximum benefit from the program
Submitting requests for the purchase of equipment and supplies that are required for daily function of the Pain Management Team and for maintaining an inventory of these supplies.
Obtaining, tracking, and trending data using Microsoft Excel and operating web-based software for data input.
Retrieving and analyzing VSSC data related to PMT metrics, opioid safety, and provider
productivity for utilization to respond to suspenses, VISN, and facility committees.
Serving as primary point of contact for responding to all telephone calls and inquiries
about the Pain Management Team (PMT) and documenting all encounters.
Maintaining computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word/Excel/PPT, CPRS, VISTA, VAE, VISIO, and SharePoint) and communication tools such as MS Outlook/Teams App, V-Tel, WEBEX and VANTS Line.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 07:30am - 04:00pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/12/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge and understanding of the principles of health care administration and medical center's mission and operations management objectives, practices, methods, and techniques necessary to assist in evaluating the center's administrative support function, Knowledge of the organizational structure, policies, procedures, and regulatory guides to provide assistance and assurance that Pain Management Team is in compliance with overall operations of the health care facility, Ability to gather and analyze factual data, drawing conclusions and recommending solutions to various work situations and requirements, Knowledge of resource allocation methodologies, Knowledge of Microsoft Office Package, including Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint. Must be able to develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets, graphs, and power point presentations, Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and have the ability to relate positively to management and employees at all levels as well as the general public. The incumbent must possess a high degree of maturity, integrity, and good judgment. The incumbent must be well organized, possess excellent time management skills, and have the ability to resolve problems, Skill in preparing reports, correspondence, proposals, and operational plans.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort, such as walking, bending, standing, lifting, climbing of stairs, carrying of correspondences may be required
