Employee will serve as a Transportation Assistant assigned to the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) Business Office located at the Robley Rex Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Louisville, KY.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following: Collaborates with the Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the transportation services program. Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information. Analyzes the data and generates a variety of reports. Reviews documents, reports, or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Maintains automated systems of program-specific data to track items such as milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc. Interacts and communicates with various other transportation services (e.g., Emergency Medical Service; Volunteer Transportation Network; Disabled American Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars; etc.) Processes claims for patient reimbursement of travel expenses. Collaborates with fiscal personnel to manage inpatient funds and budget needs. Plans and provides services in program areas of electronic records management, driver scheduling setup and management, and space utilization. Provides technical advice and guidance with a wide variety of staff and management on transportation services, including requirements and implications, and how provided services can assist in accomplishing their missions and programs. Performs other related duties as necessary. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes coordinating and scheduling transportation services; collecting and tracking program-specific data and generating a variety of correspondence and reports; and utilizing various computer software programs and databases to maintain automated systems. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Computer SkillsCustomer ServiceDecision MakingPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employee will be exposed to demanding working situations that require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. Position is expected to observe high volume of work, a constant need for accuracy, frequent interruptions and evolving demands due to program changes.
