This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Oversees complex complaints, information, or allegations received through the OIG's Hot Line or referred to the INV through other means.
Oversees the plans and coordinates, as appropriate, comprehensive civil investigations which include setting deadlines and monitoring progress.
Oversees the plans and coordinates, as appropriate, comprehensive audits and inspections of the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s plans and programs.
Assesses and recommends whether complaints, information or allegations merit further investigation.
Oversees the annual audit and inspection planning process for the OIG and the preparation of the Semiannual Report to Congress.
Oversees and reviews reports of investigations, audits, and inspections to ensure clear writing, logical organization, accuracy, conciseness completeness, and compliance with existing laws, regulations and procedures.
Prepares, reviews, analyzes and verifies statistical and other data compiled for use as exhibits in investigations, audits, inspections and other studies and reports.
Responsible for the Human Capital, Budget, Information Technology, training and other program features of the OIG.
Serves as the alter-ego of the Inspector General and will represent the office at GPO and other stakeholder meetings.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure report may be required.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.
- Applicant must possess a U.S. Driver's License.
- Selectees must pass a drug test prior to appointment.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Deputy Inspector General, PG -1801-15, you must meet the following requirements:
Specialized experience must include one year of specialized experience at the PG-14 (or equivalent GS-14) level or higher. Specialized experience is defined as: conducting, criminal, civil, and administrative investigations; providing technical advice or recommendations on investigative activities; coordinating investigation activities with Federal, state, or local law enforcement.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
