Qualifications

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. You qualify for this position at the GS-10 level (starting salary $71,531) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-09) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes:  Leading Fire and EMS personnel OR; Providing incident command and control of emergency scenes OR; Leading a Fire Department program (i.e., operations, training, safety, prevention, EMS, etc.) OR; Ensuring a Fire Departments strategic plan and data elements are communicated to personnel and senior leadership. Appointees to positions covered under these provisions must not have reached their 37th birthday at the time of initial appointment.
