Duties

Performs and oversees the administrative and clerical duties of the Child Development Center. Maintains and manages waiting list, provide resource and referral for acquisition of suitable child care. Administers financial records and reports. Provides administrative support to Child Development Center management. Provides oversight for time and attendance and payroll functions.

  • Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
  • Position/employee is subject to obtaining and maintaining training, to include infant/child CPR, first aid, and various Airman and Family Services training modules.
  • Must demonstrate maturity and good judgment.
  • Position is subject to work and uncommon tour of duty.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Physical Examination with required immunizations and tuberculosis test for child care programs.
  • A driver's license is required.
  • A qualified typist is required. Must meet OPM typing requirement of 40 W.P.M.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys to produce a wide range of documents; Knowledge of basic arithmetic principles to make routine calculations; Knowledge of standard office equipment and office automation systems to perform a substantial range of office automation support; Knowledge of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and commonly used specialized terminology to prepare material correctly; Knowledge of a body of rules, procedures, or operations applicable to clerical assignments, such as preparing various routine correspondence/reports, maintaining files/records, and reviewing and processing mail. OR EDUCATION: Must have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Must have a combination of education and experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. NOTE: only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of policies and regulations governing Child Development Center programs. 2. Knowledge of early childhood development. 3. Knowledge of common clerical practices and office routines. 4. Skill in the use of software applications to effectively manage data, statistics and suspense's. 5. Skill in compiling and composing both quantitive and narrative reports for a variety of agencies based on analyzing data and circumstances. 6. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with tact and courtesy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
