Southern District of Texas, Laredo, TX The selectee of this position serves as a Administrative Support Assistant (OA). You will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical support duties.

Duties

As a Administrative Support Assistant (OA) at the GS-0303-5 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Receiving and screening calls and visitors to the office. Receiving, reviewing, coordinating, maintaining, monitoring, and recording a variety of civil and criminal case actions and necessary documentation. Utilizing office automation equipment and various software packages to accomplish work. GS-05 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted). You may qualify at the GS-0303-05 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level which includes 1) Establishing and maintaining files in accordance with established procedures and regulations; 2) Preparing recurring reports; 3) Responding to questions concerning office procedures and regulations; and 4) Editing the formatting, alignment, and content of documents created in word-processing software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04) OR Education: 4 years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience as described above that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement (only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours may be used in this calculation). AND Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirements for one year of full-time graduate study.
