About the Position: This position is with the Army Reserve Aviation Command, Aviation Support Facility (ASF) Eustis East located at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Duties

Analyze lessons to ensure appropriateness of concepts and instructional methods. Create training programs to increase proficiency of individuals to be rated. Evaluate student progress to determine if remedial instruction is required. Administrator evaluations of newly assigned individuals. Adapt training to accommodate skill level of student. Conducts initial and refresher training for crew members. Assess student experience level. Diagnose problems with aircraft to accurately report conditions. Teach classes about aircrew handling duties.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must have one year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and must meet the following qualifications: Possess the training, and certifications or ratings required by the military branch or; non-military comparable training and certifications i.e., FAA: An applicant for a flight engineer certificate with a class rating must present, for the class rating sought, satisfactory evidence of one of the following: (1) At least 3 years of diversified practical experience in aircraft and aircraft engine maintenance (of which at least 1 year was in maintaining multiengine aircraft with engines rated at least 800 horsepower each, or the equivalent in turbine engine powered aircraft), and at least 5 hours of flight training in the duties of a flight engineer. (2) Graduation from at least a 2-year specialized aeronautical training course in maintaining aircraft and aircraft engines (of which at least 6 calendar months were in maintaining multiengine aircraft with engines rated at least 800 horsepower each or the equivalent in turbine engine powered aircraft), and at least 5 hours of flight training in the duties of a flight engineer. (3) A degree in aeronautical, electrical, or mechanical engineering from a recognized college, university, or engineering school; at least 6 calendar months of practical experience in maintaining multiengine aircraft with engines rated at least 800 horsepower each, or the equivalent in turbine engine powered aircraft; and at least 5 hours of flight training in the duties of a flight engineer. (4) At least a commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating and at least 5 hours of flight training in the duties of a flight engineer. (5) At least 200 hours of flight time in a transport category airplane (or in a military airplane with at least two engines and at least equivalent weight and horsepower) as pilot in command or second in command performing the functions of a pilot in command under the supervision of a pilot in command. have flown the minimum flying hours required for the specific aircraft; demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities, regarding aircrew procedures and operations; pre-flight procedures, aircraft loading (including weight and balance factors), airplane systems, emergency procedures, operation of aircraft engines and systems, maintenance and inspection procedures, and other pertinent expertise needed to perform the work; and Note: Applicants who desire to qualify on the basis of their military experience must provide official training records, flight records, copies of the DD Form 214, check flight grade sheets, or other official documentation showing their status as a flight engineer, flight engineer instructor, aircraft maintenance mechanic, aerial refueling technician, or loadmaster (as appropriate for the position). AND Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: pre-flight procedures, aircraft loading (including weight and balance factors), airplane systems, emergency procedures, operation of aircraft engines and systems, maintenance and inspection procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education and TrainingEducation and Training Program AdministrationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
