You will serve as an Industrial Hygienist in the Mission Support Division, Code 125100 ofNAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY
Duties
You will conduct comprehensive industrial hygiene surveys as well as helping senior staff provide advice to research and support personnel.
You will assist in preparing technical reports that relate to health hazards and giving recommended actions for their control or elimination.
You will assist senior staff in the implementation of new processes and requirements designed to improve the safety and health of employees.
You will participate in the planning, organizing, implementation and control of a comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene program.
You will conduct formal inspections of facilities to identify and evaluate workplace hazards, and make recommendations for their abatement.
Requirements

Qualifications
NO-2 In addition to the basic requirement, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-01/04) grade level or pay band (NO-01) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, standards, regulations, procedures and practices and skill in managing safety and occupational health programs with diverse but recognized hazards.
NO-3 In addition to the basic requirement, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05/10) grade level or pay band (NO-02) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: Knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of industrial hygiene; Knowledge of Department of Navy and Federal occupational health standards; and Knowledge of chemicals, their hazards and toxicities, and methods used to reduce the hazards associated with their use, storage, and disposal.

Education
A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science;
OR
A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene;
OR
Certification from the
American Board of Industrial Hygiene (external link) (ABIH).
